As aviation becomes widespread and an essential part of our lives in the world, the need for a qualified labor force in all the fields related to the aviation sector increases. The aviation sector rapidly sustains its development every single day both in Turkey and across the world. According to the SHGM (General Directorate of Civil Aviation) data, between 2003 – 2017 the number of planes have increased 3 times, revenues 23 times, the number of passengers 4 times, the number of airports 2 times in our country. This development is much greater than the development in the aviation sectors of the world. These developments in the aviation sector prompt all the airlines, particularly Turkish Airlines, to increase the number of planes in their fleet in proportion to the need day by day.
As KTO Karatay University, based on these data, we have decided to establish the Pilotage department in order to participate in the development of our country’s aviation sector and to find a solution for the lack of pilots in our country. Therefore, our university has an Airpark (Landing Strip) of 305.000m2 in size.
Our pilotage students will be trained for the civil aviation sector in line with international standards. In addition to this, our university will offer many double major programs in many engineering departments for the students in the Pilotage Department. Thanks to this, our students will both receive their ATPL pilot licenses and graduate with an engineering diploma.
